World Book Day 2019

Happy World Book Day everyone! ๐ŸŽ‰

I hope all of you who have either been wearing or helping to create costumes for today have had a great time. Even me and Bobby managed to join in the fun this year!

โ€œWe all float down here.โ€

Channeling some strong Stephen King’s IT vibes here. (Yes, Bobby is the balloon. ๐ŸŽˆ)

But of course that isn’t all that WBD is about, now is it? Things have been bit of a whirlwind in my universe since getting back from my writing retreat. (More about said retreat coming soon! ๐Ÿ‘€) However, I have had chance to treat myself to some books just in time for today’s celebrations and I thought I’d share with you my current TBR pile and I’d love it if you share yours with me!

Nought Forever by Malorie Blackman My pick from this year’s World Book Day books. I’ve never actually read Noughts & Crosses, but have seen the play. So I’m definitely intrigued as to where this book will take the story.

My Mum Tracy Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson – A recent discovery on my behalf. Growing up with Tracy Beaker I just had to get this book. However, I think I might read the old ones again before diving in to this new chapter!

Still Me by Jojo Moyes – What can I say, I’m a sucker for chick-lit! Plus my Mom brought me the previous two books on this series as gifts last year, so I had to complete the set.

So yes, don’t be shy! I’d love to hear what you are currently reading and what you plan to read in the coming weeks.

You can get in touch in the comments below or feel free to find me on Facebook /brionymarshallauthor , Instagram @brionymarshallauthor or Twitter @brionywrites

I looking forward to seeing your choices and happy reading!

Nanowrimo 2018!

Happy November 1st Everyone and welcome to National Novel Writing Month. For those of you who have followed my blog for a while, you’ll know that Nanowrimo is a challenge I’ve always dreamed of winning but never quite managed it.

Well, after finally finishing a novel length manuscript and with my first draft of book two on the horizon, I thought what better opportunity than to give Nanowrimo another go.

Soo… I thought I better post this here, right now and commit.

I am officially a 2018 Nanowrimo participant! I’ve updated my Nanowrimo profile and I’ve already wrote 500 words. So that’s it, I’m in!

If you’re joining me on this crazy yet amazing journey of words, I’d love to be buddies! You can find my profile and the details of the novel I hope to write here. And… I’m also currently taking applications for cheerleaders! ๐Ÿ˜‚ (I’m gonna need the support!)

If you want to follow my Nanowrimo journey I’m sure I’ll be mentioning it over of my social media. Which you can find here, here and here.

Oh and don’t forget! It’s my e-book launch party tonight where I’ll be answering questions on my FB & Instagram lives, any Nanowrimo questions very welcome!

See you then!

E-book Release Announcement! ๐ŸŽ‰

For #throwbackthursday this week Iโ€™m pulling this moment from the archives; the moment I sent the final draft of Unravelled to my kindle for my last ever read through before it went to print! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I remember how once the document was open, it felt like I was reading an e-book straight from Amazon, already published, already out there in the big wide world. ๐ŸŒŽI know it sounds crazy, but it was one of the first moments I actually saw Unravelled as a โ€œbookโ€.

Well today, I am very excited to announce that that day dream is about to become a reality. Unravelled’s 1st birthday is coming up and I thought what better way to celebrate than with the release of it’s e-book!

So on November 1st 2018, I will be celebrating the e-book release of Unravelled with an online party across my social media and you’re all invited!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ (Expect: wine, q&as and lots of knitting!)

More details to follow over the next couple of days. ๐Ÿ‘€

Yarndale 2018 Haul!

Wowzers! What an experience Yarndale was. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I can honestly say it was everything I’d ever dreamed a yarn show could be and I think a part of my brain is still blown away by it all! There was so many lovely things there and it was so hard to choose just a few to bring home! However, I’d like to share with you all today my bundle of goodies so you can get a taster of my experience and give a shout-out to some of my new friends along the way.

I really wanted to try something new with this haul post and do a video, but unfortunately as soon as I got back on Sunday I came down with a horrendous cold! (And I don’t think sniffling, sneezing and coughs are what anyone’s after. Even if only for an FB live!)

So here we are, doing it the good old fashioned blogging way! (However, if you did fancy a more detailed look at anyof these items, I’ll be sure to pop some videos/ boomerangs up on my Instagram/ Facebook story either today or tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜Š)

Right then, let’s get going…

The Yarndale Shop

The equivalent of the band t-shirt from the rock gig, who could say no to the Yarndale shop?

This was actually our first point of call, where I quickly snapped up the necessities, such as; a programme, a pen, this year’s exclusive pin badge and of course a bag to carry all my goodies in. The butterfly I actually purchased on my second visit to the Yarndale shop. ๐Ÿ™ˆ It was part of Yarndale’s Creative Community Project in support of a charity called Pioneer Projects, who help people living with dementia. He was such a cute little thing, one of the smallest butterflies there and his colours reminded me of a pumpkin! (And we all know how I feel about that.) I’m hoping to make him into a brooch or necklace one day.

Doug the Pug Pattern

How cute is little Doug here? I just couldn’t leave him behind. I think part of it is do with my weakness for moss stitch. (Those of you who have received my Adrian’s Scarf Pattern will completely understand!) If like me, you can’t resist the cute and cuddley, be sure to check out Sardines For Tea, all of her patterns are just adorable!

Yarnie Guide Badges

As soon as Yarnistry revealed these on her Instagram, I knew I was going to have to get some. Being a Brownie in my youth, I thought this idea was just adorable and perfect for nostalgia. I tried to only buy a couple that I’d actually achieved and treat myself to the others as I progress my skills. Fancy doing the same? These badges have now been listed on the Yarnistry Etsy store too!

I won a set of Knit Pro Zings!

The Knitter Magazine had a Wheel of Fortune type game on their stand which was free to play. I was over the moon when I won a pair of Knit Pro Zings! I love using these knitting needles, they’re ultra smooth and glide through you work. I am in love. ๐Ÿ˜

Wild Wood Pattern Book

This book is the stuff of dreams. ๐Ÿคฉ Honestly, Marie Wallin‘s stall made me very happy. Everything there was a work of art. I found it very hard to walk away! ๐Ÿ˜‚So of course I had to purchase something. Even if I only drool over this book for rest of eternity, it was still worth it. Absolutely gorgeous.

Yarnivore Goodies & Beautiful Yarn

I got a little bit excited at this stand…

My good friend Ginger Galore sent me the link to Stitcher Tees a couple of weeks ago and we both agreed that their merch was a must buy. However, we’d just missed out on the Kickstarter and wasn’t sure how else to go about it, when we find out Stitcher Tees and Vicki Brown Designs we’re going to be at Yarndale. We got very excited. I must admit the pin is a present for my boyfriend (He loves dinosaurs and wool, it’s a no brainier!) but the project bag and hand dyed yarn are all mine. ๐Ÿ˜ The skein reminds me so much of a unicorn how could I say no? It’s even got shiny flecks in it. I’m literally so excited to get it caked and on the needles!

Scheepjes Shawl Patterns

The Scheepjes stand was very exciting for me as I already knew of their beautiful things! (Especially after asking for their Sophie’s Universe Stool for my birthday. ๐Ÿ˜) All the staff were super friendly and they had their bloggers there which was a nice touch. We were also go given these shawl patterns as a freebie after we’d got chatting, which I thought was very sweet of them.

Pollevie Hooks & Shawl Pins

I couldn’t wait to reach Pollevie’s stand and when I did it was everything I’d hoped and dreamed of. ๐Ÿ’• I’ve been a fan of hers on Instagram for some time now and never thought I’d get the chance to meet her. Everything about her brand is just so colourful and cheery, you can’t help but be happy when you see her fabulous creations. So of course I soon snapped up her flowery hook and scissors, what a stunning addition to my collection? And I just could not leave that shawl pin behind, definite Wilma vibes there, it have to be done. She even gave me this lovely Phildar project bag as a gift, how nice was that?

Lucky Dip & Super Cute Stitch Markers

Who doesn’t love a lucky dip?! Since I got back from Yarndale I’ve seen lots of these little packages across my newsfeeds and rightly so, it was a fab idea from Oh, For Hook’s Sake. My mini skein is in the shade Grape Soda (which I already have plans to turn into a beautiful bow), my stitch marker was a teapot (how apt!) and my teabag was Settling Ginger (yummy!). I’m also still building a stitch marker collection and couldn’t resist these three beauties for obvious reasons. ๐Ÿ˜

And that’s all folks!

I hope you enjoyed my little haul and be sure to check out my Facebook/ Instagram stories for a closer look. ๐Ÿ‘€

Hands up, who already wants to book their Yarndale ticket for next year?
